Cash Is King In An Economic Collapse
In an Economic Collapse your credit cards, debit cards will not work, banks will close, Food shortages Cash will be King. Once awareness of the situation sets in, rioting, looting, and violent crime will be everywhere.
What would you do to feed your hungry kids? Hunger and watching those you care about go hungry will make good people do the unthinkable. Desperate times make desperate people.
The post-Scott did on Bugging Out got me to thinking about the reasons people would Bug Out economic collapse topped my list since it would probably cause the others on my list to occur, transportation stoppage, wide-spread looting and rioting, food shortages among others.
So if as Scott talked about you already have a Bug Out Location what should it be stocked with? Here is a list of items I would want to have on hand.
We’ll begin with the important stuff like food and water and work from there.
Water and a Way to Purify it
Bottled water
Even with our well and year round spring on the property, we keep a few cases of bottled water on hand.
Rain Barrels
We also have a rainwater collection system ours is a 1500 gallon storage tank depending on your needs you can have a few 55-gallon drums.
Canteen / Water Bottle
There is any number of reasons for having these hunting and foraging trips come to mind
Water Purification Tablets, Pool Shock/Bleach
These can be used to disinfect water and make it safe to drink about 8 drops of household bleach will usually work make sure it is regular bleach no added color or fragrance.
5 Gallon bucket
To carry water from water source if water is not piped in.
Stock pot or large kettle
For boiling water, this is the best and safest way to purify and disinfect water. Bring water to a rolling boil for about 10 minutes and let it cool.
Coffee Filters
For filtering large solids from the water like grass, bugs, dirt etc.
Cheese Cloth or Mosquito Netting
Also used for filtering
Charcoal
Used with the Cheese Cloth or Mosquito Netting or coffee filters to filter water. I put a coffee filter or layer of cloth or netting on my cup or bucket then a layer of charcoal, topped with sand and top the sand with fine gravel then filter my water through.
Water filtering systems
Portable water filters like the Survival Spring and LifeStraw you can drink water right from the source. Larger systems like Alexapure or Big Berkey can filter up to 5000 gallons.
